Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she won the Emmy Award. She has also starred in shows like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was born as the only child of her homemaker mother and senior executive from her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney lived most of her life in the company of four brothers. Although she was a child with a aspiration to become journalist, it was not until her high school years that Delaney began to model. When she moved away from New York City and gaining an experience working in commercials at New York did she achieve an aspiring career as court reporters. The role she was given was that of a young innocent in 1981's soap-opera All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of films, television movies and dramas after that. Contrary to her impressive professional career, Delaney's personal life is not successful and happy. The skilled actor had to battle alcoholism, and has had two divorces. In 2005, she lost custody over her only son.
